The 6th edition of the World Water Forum, considered the largest global event on the topic, will take place in Marseille, France, from 12 to 17 March. Headed by Minister of Environment, Izabella Teixeira, the Brazilian delegation during the 6th World Water Forum will represent 40 institutions which compose the Brazilian section of the World Water Council. It includes federal and state government institutions, private sector associations, business groups and academic institutions. The Brazilian participation occurs on two fronts: in the official sessions of the Forum, and in the Brazilian Pavilion, organized by the Water National Agency and 40 other institutions. The pavilion will have an auditorium for presentations, meeting rooms, media center, stands and space devoted to the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, Rio +20. The Brazilian institutions responsible for the Brazilian Pavilion will promote meetings, technical sessions and other activities related to the Forum, to spread and share experiences with institutions in various countries and identify opportunities for partnerships. Organized by the World Water Council (WWC - World Water Council) and the host country, the World Water Forum takes place every three years, in the month of March, due to the celebration of the "World Water Day", on March 22. The theme for this edition is "Time for Solutions". The aim of the Forum is to increase the importance of water on the political agenda of governments, deepen discussions, exchange experiences for today’s challenges and to formulate concrete proposals. About 20,000 people from 140 countries are expected to attend the event in search of solutions to major challenges that involve water, one of the priorities of the international agenda. More than a thousand journalists from various countries are already accredited. For this edition of Forum, the World Water Council elected three priorities for action: Good Governance, Contribution to Economic Development and Preservation. In the regional context of the Americas, six themes have been highlighted: Water and Sanitation, Water and Climate Change Adaptation, Integrated Management of Water Resources, Water for Food, Water for Energy and Quality Improvement of Water Resources and Ecosystems. The Brazilian participation in the 6th Forum is led by a board called the Brazil Chapter of the World Water Council, which brings together 22 effective members, as well as 20 invited institutions, which places Brazil as the fifth country in terms of national representation within the World Water Council.
