Social inclusion is one of the themes that the National Organizing Committee of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development, Rio+20, intends to promote at the event. The committee will invite at least 1,000 young people from poor communities in Rio de Janeiro to participate in various services during the meeting, both at the RioCentro Convention Center in the west of the city, site of the official agenda, and at the locations set aside for parallel events. According to the Rio+20 press coordinator, the adolescents will receive training in the environment, sustainable development and human rights, as well as specific Conference topics such as the green economy, eradication of poverty and global governance. Although all the tasks that groups of young people will undertake at Rio+20 are not yet defined, it is known that they will help in informing the public and in access to the site locations. They will also form a link between the Conference organization and society. They may also work as volunteers, assisting people with disabilities in mobility and access to events. The National Organization Committee for Rio+20, the State government, and the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro will define who will provide training for the workforce and will assist in planning the services. According to the event press coordinator, the organizers are open to engaging entities who wish to participate in promotion of social inclusion at Rio+20.
