The National Foundation for Teachers’ Welfare was set up in 1962 with the main objective to provide financial assistance to teachers in indigent circumstances. The Foundation is operating various schemes like Financial Assistance for the Construction of Shikshak Sadans, Financial Assistance to Teachers Suffering from Serious Ailments, Paid Holiday to Eminent Teachers who have rendered meritorious service, Support for Professional Education of Children of School Teachers, etc. for the welfare of teachers all over India. The Foundation celebrates 5th September each year as Teachers’ Day to mark the birthday of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, former President, noted educationist and philosopher. Under the aegis of the Foundation, a voluntary Fund Collection Drive followed by a function to celebrate Teachers’ Day, was organized at Shastri Bhawan New Delhi today. The Fund Collection Drive was carried out with the help of students and teachers from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sector-II, R.K. Puram and Luxman Public School, Hauz Khas, from 9.00 A.M. to 10.30 A.M in Shastri Bhawan. The funds collected on the occasion will be utilized for the welfare of teachers.
