The Brazilian government has entered into an international partnership and cooperation agreement with a renewable three-year term aimed at encouraging sustainable coffee production and commercialization. The memorandum of understanding was signed between the Federal government and the International Coffee Organization - the main intergovernmental body dedicated to this area. The aim of the partnership is to implement measures that contribute to poverty reduction through activities that enhance the capacity of local communities and small farmers. It is proposed to finance these activities and promote information exchange and training programs that contribute to technology transfer related to coffee production. Both sides of the partnership are committed to broadening the exchange of information, technical improvements and stimulating joint efforts for sustainable development and social issues.
