The Industry Confidence Index increased 0.5% in March this year, in relation to the previous month. According to Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), the index went from 102.5 points in February to 103 points in March. It is the fourth consecutive increase, featuring the evaluation from businessmen of the industry in relation to the sector. The largest increase was registered by the Expectations Index, which presents the perspectives for the coming months, with an elevation of 1%, peaking at 102.3 points. According to FGV, businessmen are more optimistic in relation to employment than with regard to production and business environment. From the 1,214 companies consulted, 21.9% intend to increase the contingent of workforce over the next three months and only 8.8% are likely to decrease it. As for the Current Situation Index, it has increased by 0.2% and reached 103.8 points. According to FGV, the item that mostly contributed to the result was the current business situation. On the other hand, a fall in the level of demand has been recorded.
